Matrix keypad case for ESPHome

Matrix keypad case for ESPHome
By Langweiler

I designed this keypad (case) for control of my homebrewn alarm system built with ESP Home and Home Assistant. In addition to the 3D printed case, you will need the following electronic parts:

Evidently you also need soldering equipment.

Adjust the resistors for the LEDs according to the brightness you require. For instance, I used a 150 Ohm resistor for the yellow LED as it was not as strong.

The ESP Home configuration file (.yaml) requires some adjustments before it will work. Firstly, wou will have to define the following secrets:

  • api_encryption_key
  • ota_password
  • wifi_ssid
  • wifi_password

In addition, you will need to verify and adjust pin selections for the keypad and LEDs as they depend on the actual ESP32 board you use and the connections you have soldered.

The configuration file is only an example. You can configure a lot more logic into the setup if required.
